We live in an age of political and social turmoil. In light of recent, tragic events where people have been unjustly killed or seriously injured at the hands of policemen, we declare that the life of every individual - no matter their race, ethnicity, gender, or orientation - matters. We also applaud responsible police officers that are enforcing the law and keeping American citizens safe; we also believe that the devastating actions of a few individuals do not appropriately reflect the actions and intentions of their associates, and we believe that the push for increased racial equality can be achieved in harmony with continued education and training opportunities for law enforcement officials.

How does this relate to the pro-life movement? Today, we invite you to participate in educating yourself about how the pro-life movement, and the #YouMatter initiative, supports black communities, individuals, and lives. Please watch the following video and continue reading to learn more:

Did you know that Planned Parenthood founder Margaret Sanger originally founded the organization to curtail the growth of and ultimately eliminate the Black American community? An organization that currently poses as a reproductive rights facility is deeply rooted and, to this day, actively perpetuates racism via infanticide.

It's important to note that Planned Parenthood does provide services that are beneficial to women such as cancer screenings, STD diagnoses, and birth control (although the ethicality of their birth control policies could also be considered questionable). While access to appropriate birth control and reproductive health services is vital, women of all races deserve access to reproductive health care without having to turn to an organization that actively promotes racism and abortion. In New York alone, more black babies are aborted than are actually born alive each year. This suppression of the Black community and the systematic killing of their future has to stop.

Black lives matter. While I cannot condone all of the actions of the Black Lives Matter organization itself, I firmly believe that the lives of all Black individuals and their families matter. While cases of gang activity, unjust police brutality (though cases are few and far between but truly devastating), and racism are inherently wrong and should be condemned, the true culprit of the undermining of Black communities is abortion. Black pre-born lives matter. You cannot say that you are informed and aware of racism toward America's black community until you understand that one of the highest causes of death among the Black population is systematic abortion.
